UNited Nations Charter and Statute of the international Court of Justice

In the summer of 2011, I redesigned the cover of the United Nations Charter in a coffee shop in Williamsburg. The production was on hold until 2015, when the Secretary-General finally pushed for the new version to be available for an event in San Francisco later that year…

Initially, the cover design was envisioned as a matte black premium cover with a silver and blue stamp foil for the text and emblem.

After printing the initial dummies, the black edition was rejected and replaced with a more conservative palette of pale blue with the same silver foil.

I was responsible for the design and production coordination of the print edition in its 18 permutations, the boxed sets as well as the digital editions in the form of eBooks and a universal app.

I prepared specifications and briefs for all permutations which were crucial to ensuring that the products came out exactly as we envisioned.

I produced all graphics for the multi-channel marketing campaign that ranged from billboards on Times Square to advertisements in print magazines and from high-profile events with the Secretary-General to poster distributions at the Secretariat and UNICs.

The redesigned Charter garnered a lot of excitement and received overwhelmingly positive feedback. The engaging promotional campaign resulted in sales numbers that exceeded expectations.
